PSY 212: Personality: Researching

WISE Search

Don't forget WISE! Search our library's database for peer-reviewed articles too.

Search for an item in libraries near you:
WorldCat.org >>

We don't have it? ILL it!

If Westminster College doesn't own a book or article, you can still get it (with a bit of patience!)

Click the "I need it now!" button on the WISE record of something you want that Westminster doesn't own.

The first time you use this service, you will have to create an account, but afterwards it's smooth sailing.

Articles will be delivered electronically and typically take 3-5 business days. Books can take up to two weeks and will be held behind the LIS Help Desk.

Remember

For your lit review you will need FIVE scholarly empirical articles. When searching for sources, please make sure that each source is about a specific experiment. Do'nt review review articles! That's too meta!

PsycINFO

At this point you've likely used PsycINFO to do research. Here are a few reminders of stuff that will help you get the most out of this database.

  • Basic search is for chumps. Advanced search is for cool dudes
  • Use the Browse feature to peruse specific journals- this can help you get an idea of a topic
  • The Term Finder can make your searches easier if you struggle with "what to put in the search bar"
  • PsycINFO has some great features for tracking citations
  • Save your searches and articles with an APA account!
