Evaluating arguments

You should be able to defend any source you choose to use in a speech or other assignment by being able to answer these questions:

  • Why did you choose this source?
  • How did this source help you?
  • What bias does this source have?
  • How did you take into account a source's bias?

You should be able to speak to the Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose of the source (Also known as the CRAP test). Use the rubric below or meet with a librarian to evaluate your sources to make sure they're reliable before you use them.
