Open Educational Resources and E-Textbooks

This guide will provide information and resources regarding using online/electronic textbooks

E-books as Textbooks

McGill Library makes a large number of e-book titles available, and, in addition, can purchase additional titles to add to our collection.  These titles are able to be used as textbooks that students can use without charge!  Please reach out to us if you would like to try and use an e-text in one of your courses - we would be happy to help confirm or determine availability, or to purchase titles not already in the collection.

Search WISE

You can search WISE for any e-book currently available through the library. All titles have unlimited concurrent access (as many people as needed can access the title at the same time, for an unlimited length of time).

Direct Links to E-book Platforms

You can also search the following e-book databases for content that is or CAN BE available through the library.  We can purchase any of the titles to add to our collection.  Some books have different access models, however, so if you would like to use an e-book for a course text, please contact me so that we can check on the access model and assure that all of your students will be able to use the book.
