You can also find reference sources in our print collection by searching WISE (see box to the left, or go to the library home page).  TIP:  you will need to search broadly to find a print reference source that includes your topic ("authors"; "literature"; etc.)

Books

By searching WISE, you will find all the books, videos and other library resources that are owned by Westminster College.  NOTE:  videos are stored in A/V.

Tips:

  • If your search gets too few results, use broader search terms.
  • If your search gets too many results, use more specific search terms.
  • Don't judge a book just by its title:  you may find valuable information for your research in just one of the chapters of a book or perhaps just a few paragraphs.  WISE sometimes lists a book's table of contents; you can also simply go to the shelf and browse through it to determine if it contains information of use to your research.
  • SUBJECT HEADINGS:  On the right side of an item's result screen, near the top, is a section titled "More like this".  There you will find a list of subjects that experts have associated with the item you're looking at.  By clicking on one of these subjects, WISE will bring up a list of all books that it can find which have also been associated (or "tagged") with that subject.  This is a very useful tool!
