ECE 201 Learning Theorist Presentation

Citing

Don't Forget: You must use APA formatting throughout your presentation. (Including a reference list on your final slide)

First, be sure that you are using the most current APA style guide—APA Publication Manual (i.e., APA 7), which was released in October 2019.

Your best online source is the Purdue OWL APA Guide which is regularly updated.

What do citations look like in a presentation?

  • APA in-text: (Author, year)
    • (Goldman, 2015)
  • If you're quoting: (Author, year, p. #)
    • (Dewey, 1929, p. 56)

When to cite in the slides?

  • If you quote a source
  • If you reference something that you learned from one source that seemed fairly original (meaning it wasn't mentioned in all your sources)
  • If you use an image, cite where it came from

What do citations look like on the reference list?

The Purdue OWL APA Guide provides detailed instructions, by source type, for formatting your citations. Be sure to consult either this online guide or a copy of the APA Publication Manual to ensure you are using the correct format for your specific source type

The basic formats include:
