To help your students know when/how they can use AI in your course, it is good practice to provide a clear and specific acceptable use policy. You can consider including this in your syllabus and also within the directions for specific assignments, particularly if students may use AI for some assignments but not others.
It is also recommended to specify whether use of AI tools like Grammarly is acceptable vs. use of generative AI tools like ChatGPT.
